Virginia Bicycle and Pedestrian Awareness Month

According to Drive Smart Virginia, 78 people died in pedestrian/motor vehicle crashes and 15 bicyclists were killed on Virginia roadways just last year. In honor of Bicycle and Pedestrian Awareness month, here are a few helpful tips to help keep everyone safe on the road.

  • Drivers, pass bicyclists at a reasonable speed and at least 3 feet to the left of them. Bicyclists, remember: see and be seen.
  • When you run, walk, or jog, remember to wear bright or reflective clothing.
  • Be a good role model for your kids. Good traffic safety habits start with a good example.
