Impact of Tourism

Tourism has been important to RVA in 2015-2016. Last year, visitors spent $2.2 billion in the Richmond Region. “Tourism is one of those things that depends on each one of us… our people are our biggest assets and it is their recommendations that matter,” says Jack Berry (President and CEO of Richmond Region Tourism).

Tourism is a great indicator of the quality of place of our region. This is because if people are coming to the region to invest and spend money and so more jobs are created. New jobs help to increase culture and diversity in our region which increases RVA’s quality of place and resources, leading to prosperity for our entire region and its citizens.
