Indicators: Celebrate with National Volunteer Week
Did you know that April 15th through the 21st is National Volunteer Week? In our recent Snapshot, we saw 29.4% of Richmond residents volunteer, beating out every one of our peer regions, and ranking 18th out of the largest 51 metropolitan statistical areas! Over 325,000 folks volunteered in the Richmond region, putting in over 36.7 million hours of service in 2015 alone.
HandsOn Service
Last fall, we partnered with HandsOn Greater Richmond to host Give a Day RVA, a day of region-wide service which brought thousands of volunteers to almost 60 projects with 40 different partners. Our partnership with HandsOn RVA has led to integration of our 8 priority areas in their volunteer opportunity search, allowing members of the community to connect their passions with regional needs.
How to Get Involved
In the spirit of celebrating volunteerism, we’re joining in the Power of Good RVA, a program of The Community Foundation though HandsOn RVA and The Spark Mill as part of the 5th annual celebration. Make sure to come out to recognize Richmond’s volunteer superheros on Tuesday, April 17th at Blue Bee Cider. To learn more and sign up for this celebration, click here!
