Peer regions were chosen for their comparable size and composition. These same regions have been used for comparison in multiple other studies and reports.

Why It's Important
In 2011 the Brookings Institute studied the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the nation to measure the transit coverage of working-age residents near a transit stop. Adequate transit coverage gives workers the opportunity to use another mode of transportation besides the car and potentially increases the number and type of jobs available to them.
